Britton

Britton is getting big. She is

rolling over on her own and this is her preferred sleep position now. She came with Brian and I on a trip to Vermont and was sooooo good during the long car ride and our anniversary dinner.

Soccer

Maddie likes playing soccer. "It's not as much work as ballet, Mama". That's because she likes to be goalie and pull the net in around her. She also doesn't like running. It makes her "too tired".

He he.

Hannah's Injury

Hannah had a run in with the chair rail about a week ago. She was so brave getting her stitches. My coworkers are amazing and we expect it will heal well. A little vitamin e oil and sun protection and we should be good to go.

The Last 3 Months

Hi all. So I've learned how to update the blog from my iPhone! Yeah!!! I thought I'd share with you some photos from the last couple of months. Britton is an easy baby and the girls adore her. We have been checking off our summer to do list with projects around the house. The kiddos have a new swing set and the old one has been carted away. We had the garage dry walled and we can even park in there now. We went to Maine twice already and even took a day at Sturbridge Village.

Britton's Here!!

6 weeks to go in this photo...

I am WAY behind, but as many of you with children know, I now have 3 very good excuses.  I went into labor the night Brian's parents left for Aruba.  Aside from that, Britton's timing couldn't have been better.  I finished up the last of my scheduled shifts at work, cleaned the house, and got a day off with Hannah and Maddie.  My contractions started around 2am.  I felt really restless but wasn't in pain.  The contractions were really weird - 5 minutes, then 20 minutes, then 10 minutes apart.  I couldn't figure out what was going on.  By 5am I called in the reinforcements.  My mom came and stayed with the girls as Brian and I made our way to the hospital.  Turns out my water had broken but I wasn't dilating due to previous surgery.  Hence, the nearly painless and irregular contractions.  They had to give me pitocin to advance the labor and I was sure I was going to the OR for C-section.  But my doctor respected my wishes and was aggressive about moving things along.  By 4pm we had a baby.  My active labor phase was under 8 minutes.  I pushed and she was out.  I might have pushed a total of 4 times.  It was easy.  I'm pretty sure I told Brian I could do it again (even though we won't be doing it again).  And there she was - Britton Collette LaPointe, 7lbs 15oz.  We borrowed the name (with permission) from a friend of ours in Maine.

Britton is an amazing sleeper and such a good baby.  She's got quite the head of hair but it will be awhile before we know if it's going to be curly.  How my other girls got straight hair I will never know.....There is next to no sleep deprivation here.  Juggling 3 though is challenging.  Butch finished Hannah's room so we could complete the nursery just in time.  I will take pictures and post them soon.  Meanwhile we are working on getting the kids new swing set up.  Can't wait.

Breakfast With Santa

The town of Brookline hosts a breakfast with Santa every year. Last year we hauled out to Yankee Candle but were happy to just run down the street this time.

Breakfast proved to be very nice - pancakes, sausage, donuts, and most importantly - coffee.

Afterwards Santa meets with all of the children to hear their Christmas wishes and have pictures taken. Our children did not utter a sound - not even a hello. Poor Santa. Hannah, despite how she looks in the picture, walked right up to Santa and hopped in the chair - no fear though. Maddie on the other hand, held back and still required Brian's hand while I got the photo.

Hannah's First Hair Cut

Maddie Turns 4!

I desperately wanted a tea party....Maddie wanted a Toy Story theme. I turned to the internet at a total loss of how to go about entertaining the 14 children invited. Luckily I found several good ideas....We did a Mr. Potato Head craft, we went panning for gold like the prospector Stinky Pete, and we gave the kids a crack at a Buzz Lightyear pinata. I think they had fun. Each attendee received a cowboy hat, badge, and Toy Story bandana. That night when I put Madeleine to bed she gave me a big hug and said, "You are the best Mom! Thank you for my party and all the fun!"

P.S. A special thanks to all of the adults who dressed in costume and made it a blast. You know who you are.

Halloween

Well, as most of you know we got hit with a huge snow storm just before Halloween. Trick or Treating was actually postponed until a week later. We had our annual open house and beer fest with homemade pumpkin brew in the dark on generator power. The candles added to the ambiance for sure and we all made the best of it. Our power was out for a total of 3 days but we weathered it well.

Maddie wanted desperately to go as Jesse from Toy Story and we dressed Hannah as a frog. They both got to hop on the hay ride that goes around our neighborhood and got boatloads of candy.

Additionally, Maddie had a Halloween parade with her classmates from school.
