The Man Van

Halloween

We don't have a great costume pictures this year simply because there was no power - again. The girls had me go as Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz. Maddie was a Southern Belle and Hannah was the Devil. We resurrected the chicken outfit for Britton.

Nothing Much New

The past couple of months have been busy. Bri is back in the swing of things with school. He is running a Lego class in the afternoons for the kids and working hard to keep up with his own grueling schedule. Maddie and Hannah are loving preschool and are very excited about the upcoming holidays. Britton is crawling and attempting to cruise. The kid is a daredevil - for reasons I won't share here!

The Truck's Demise

On my way home from a 12 hour shift the truck abruptly changed itself into 4 wheel drive, and the check engine light came on. I coasted to the exit and got off the highway. Low and behold I was suddenly stuck in Manchester. The truck wouldn't turn over. I had it towed to a local shop and I've been told it doesn't look good. Might be car shopping this weekend. At least I got to share an ice cream with Brian before returning home. We thought we'd try to end the night on a more positive note, and paid a visit to the Friendly's across the street from where I was broken down. Ice cream somehow made it a bit better ;)

Britton wants to crawl

She's not even 6 months yet and I've told her to slow down but my baby babe is up on all 4s rocking and getting those muscles ready for movement.

Apple picking

After an early morning field trip to Brookdale we brought our apples home. Brian has made several pies already and I feel my waistline expanding. It's sooo worth it though. Bonus - we found money on the orchard and no one claimed it. Free apples!

Back to school

It's been busy getting everyone settled into a new routine. Maddie has started her second year of preschool and Hannah is now going for the first time. They're both in the Brookline elementary school where they will eventually go to kindergarten.

Britton

Britton is getting big. She is

rolling over on her own and this is her preferred sleep position now. She came with Brian and I on a trip to Vermont and was sooooo good during the long car ride and our anniversary dinner.

Soccer

Maddie likes playing soccer. "It's not as much work as ballet, Mama". That's because she likes to be goalie and pull the net in around her. She also doesn't like running. It makes her "too tired".

He he.

Hannah's Injury

Hannah had a run in with the chair rail about a week ago. She was so brave getting her stitches. My coworkers are amazing and we expect it will heal well. A little vitamin e oil and sun protection and we should be good to go.

The Last 3 Months

Hi all. So I've learned how to update the blog from my iPhone! Yeah!!! I thought I'd share with you some photos from the last couple of months. Britton is an easy baby and the girls adore her. We have been checking off our summer to do list with projects around the house. The kiddos have a new swing set and the old one has been carted away. We had the garage dry walled and we can even park in there now. We went to Maine twice already and even took a day at Sturbridge Village.

Britton's Here!!

6 weeks to go in this photo...

I am WAY behind, but as many of you with children know, I now have 3 very good excuses.  I went into labor the night Brian's parents left for Aruba.  Aside from that, Britton's timing couldn't have been better.  I finished up the last of my scheduled shifts at work, cleaned the house, and got a day off with Hannah and Maddie.  My contractions started around 2am.  I felt really restless but wasn't in pain.  The contractions were really weird - 5 minutes, then 20 minutes, then 10 minutes apart.  I couldn't figure out what was going on.  By 5am I called in the reinforcements.  My mom came and stayed with the girls as Brian and I made our way to the hospital.  Turns out my water had broken but I wasn't dilating due to previous surgery.  Hence, the nearly painless and irregular contractions.  They had to give me pitocin to advance the labor and I was sure I was going to the OR for C-section.  But my doctor respected my wishes and was aggressive about moving things along.  By 4pm we had a baby.  My active labor phase was under 8 minutes.  I pushed and she was out.  I might have pushed a total of 4 times.  It was easy.  I'm pretty sure I told Brian I could do it again (even though we won't be doing it again).  And there she was - Britton Collette LaPointe, 7lbs 15oz.  We borrowed the name (with permission) from a friend of ours in Maine.

Britton is an amazing sleeper and such a good baby.  She's got quite the head of hair but it will be awhile before we know if it's going to be curly.  How my other girls got straight hair I will never know.....There is next to no sleep deprivation here.  Juggling 3 though is challenging.  Butch finished Hannah's room so we could complete the nursery just in time.  I will take pictures and post them soon.  Meanwhile we are working on getting the kids new swing set up.  Can't wait.
